Hell Let Loose: Vietnam — Mortar Calculator
Interactive calculator for the Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Mortar role (launched August 13, 2026, Steam). Vietnam mortars aim by barrel angle in degrees — not the mils classic HLL artillery uses — across a 100–450 m envelope. The chart below is cross-verified against two independent public sources; between-row values are interpolated for you.
Status (August 17, 2026): chart verified from two agreeing sources. Faction split (US vs NVA tubes) unreported so far — report readings if yours disagree. Classic WWII HLL players: your mil tables live on the classic calculator.

Barrel elevation is in degrees (flatter = farther). Envelope 100–450 m. Values between chart rows are interpolated; nudge toward the nearer row and let your spotter walk the correction.

Field tips
- The observer's ping distance is your input — turn the tube until the reticle's vertical line covers the ping, then match the angle from the calculator.
- Rule of thumb inside 300 m: roughly 6° per 25 m. Past 300 m the curve flattens — about 6° per 25–50 m. When in doubt, aim the nearer row: walking shells out is easier to spot than overs in jungle canopy.

Verification mode — help harden the chart
The chart above comes from community measurement, not an official manual. If your in-game readings disagree (or you suspect US and NVA tubes differ), log two readings below — consistent disagreement gets the table corrected or split, with credit.
Reading logger
Log two or more readings from a live server (distance to a landmark + the barrel setting that scored a direct hit). The tool fits a line through your readings so you can compare against the main chart — and share the evidence with us if they disagree.
